Rising indie-folk singer-songwriter Evan Honer returns to Washington, D.C. on May 3 for a headlining show at the 9:30 Club, bringing new music and the momentum of a breakout year.
Similar sounds: Tyler Childers, Josiah and the Bonnevilles, Hans Williams

Just this week, Honer dropped his latest single, “My Expense,” a gritty and emotional collaboration with powerhouse vocalist Cameron Whitcomb. The track blends both artists’ unique styles, weaving themes of heartbreak and hard-earned lessons with a punch of Americana. It’s a raw, driving release that stands out as a bold moment in Honer’s growing discography—and one that’s sure to hit hard live.
The new single follows a busy stretch for Honer, who independently released his sophomore album Fighting For in 2024, along with two follow-up EPs, Different Life and Annabelle. The album marked a shift from the stripped-down sound of his debut, West on I-10, showcasing a fuller sonic palette and a willingness to explore the messiness of young adulthood through a mix of folk, rock, and orchestral textures.
Now based in Nashville, Honer continues to carve out space for himself—and others—through Cloverdale Records, the independent label he founded to spotlight like-minded artists. Founded in 2023, the self-proclaimed "artist-friendly record label" is home to Philip Bowen, Leon Macjen, Will Harford, and many more.
Honer is currently in the midst of a North American headline tour that has already taken him to venues like LA’s El Rey Theatre and The Fillmore in San Francisco, with more stops ahead through the spring and summer.
Honer's live set is expected to span tracks across his discography, from viral hits like his gold-certified cover of Tyler Childers' “Jersey Giant” to, of course, his newest material, “My Expense.”
